2013 Cross Border M&A Deal in Finland

The Danish company Blue Water Shipping has acquired the Finnish company Wikeström & Krogius (W&K), one of Finland’s largest privately owned freight forwarding companies. W&K specializes in road, sea, and air transport as well as project transports and comprehensive logistical solutions. Blue Water Shipping strengthens its position in the Finnish market with this acquisition. W&K was established in 1850, and is today a very strong brand in Finland. In 2012, the company’s turnover was EUR 23 million. W&K has 38 employees and 3 offices in Finland.

2013 M&A Deal in Finish freight logistics

Dachser has increased its stake in Oy Waco Logistics Finland. The air and sea freight logistics company headquartered in Vantaa, southern Finland, not far from the capital Helsinki, has additional sites in the commercial centers Lahti, Oulo, Tampere, and Vaasa. In 2012, 54 employees generated almost EUR 24m in revenue for the company. Waco Finland was founded in 1996 by leading members of WACO (World Air Cargo Organisation) and three Finnish shareholders. After the acquisition the only other remaining share holder besides Dachser is the Japanese logistics company Nishitetsu Railroad (NNR). Finland is an attractive market for air and sea freight says Thomas Reuter, managing director of Dachser Air & Sea.

2013 Cross Border M&A transaction

US-based Taminco Corp purchased Finland-based Kemira's formic acid business in a deal worth $190 million or €140 million. Taminco is the largest integrated producer of alkylamines and alkylamine derivatives in the world. The company's products are utilized in making products used everyday for the water treatment, agriculture, personal and home care, gas and animal nutrition end-markets. Kemira is a global chemicals company. Kemira Oyj Formic Acid Business serves the chemical and feed industries, as well as airport runway de-icing activities.

2011 Cross Border M&A Deal in Finland

2011 M&A transaction in Finland

Due to the M&A deal Multivac will be able to expand its product portfolio of line automation, robotics and palletizing systems. Multivac will strengthen its presence in Scandinavia, and extend its range of ABB robots and monitoring systems. The deal allows Trimaster to contribute its expertise in robotics and automation within the Multivac Group and be able to develop it sustainably.
