2010 M&A deal in Transportation

The acquisition will strengthen Deutsche Bahn's strategic positioning in Europe. Arriva's successful targeting of Europe's increasingly liberalized and fast growing transport markets  are of strategic interest to Deutsche Bahn. The m&a transaction will give Deutsche Bahn the platform to expand in Europe and enhance its position as one of Europe's passenger transport groups. The combined group will be a an international transport and logistics business, with the necessary scale, knowledge and experience to ensure competitiveness in increasingly liberalized transport markets. The cross border deal provides Deutsche Bahn with the ideal platform to grow and develop both groups' services throughout Europe. The multiple based on the estimated purchase price and the EBITDA for 2008 is 5.2. The deal was completed on 27 Augustus 2010.
